STARTING A BAND: Inventory Check

In addition to getting some ideas on paper, a good inventory check or band checklist will help toward setting some goals.  Before you can start a band there are a few things you will need.  Band mates and band equipment, for instance, are unquestionably necessary elements. No matter how good the music writing is, if you can’t play it for an audience, you are stuck at square one.

Each band will have a different number of criteria for performance.  For our purposes with the Breakthrough Band, we will use a common rock band set up with a drummer, a lead guitarist, a bassist, and a singer.  We will go through the inventory checklist as a whole, and in detail.

This is a list of the basics to get starting on a career writing music.  There is a template checklist available in the media session for you to use and follow along with as we go through our series, “Starting a Band”. There will be a few things on this checklist that you already have in place - follow along and offer advice and feedback based on your experiences. There may also be things not expressed on this list. Go to the "Contact" area of this blog to ask me questions.
